New comp, no sound...

I had an old Dell that has been a workhorse for 6-7 years. I recently got another Dell that is amazingly faster, but I am unable to get any sound to come out of the speakers.
Since the back of the tower has the same exact layout as the previous computer, it was simple to re-connect all the plugs/lines (photos taken with a digital camera was helpful).
Any suggestion on how to get sound on my new system?

Could we get more info on what the system is? What model# DELL is it?
Make sure the sound card driver is intalled.
Also make sure the sound card is setup properly.

Given that you have everything plugged in where it is supposed to go ???, then maybe your sound is off in the bios,usually on by default tho..
