Dell sp 2208wfp will not fill screen

cant get this monitor set to fill the entire screen. I can zoom to fill it in OSD settings but it will not stay this way. I've tried every resolution and still theres a 1½ inch black border around the whole picture. When I switch between WoW and desktop or vice versa, the zoom keeps resetting. Any help so I can actually use the whole monitor. I'm runninghte HDMI input and I use windows vista.

first, make sure you're using the highest resolution supported by the monitor. (should be 1680x1050). now, if yours is anything like my old SP2008WFP, there's an option somewhere in the OSD for image scaling. make sure it's set to fill and not 1:1.

If you are using a ATI based card look under the HDMI for scaling. set it to 0 and it will fill the whole screen.
