Hi all, having trouble finding options for this,

Looking at building a "silent as possible" AD server for home use. Will also run a few light apps

I'm thinking an AMD Athlon X2 3800+ 2.0Ghz CPU because of it's low power draw but reasonable processing power.

I'll be making my own SSD using SDHC cards

Just cant find a suitable mobo, desirables are...

Gigabit LAN (2 would be evenbetter but not needed)
low power need / heat output
4 or more memory slots
cheap
as it's a server, dont care about USB, sound, video outputs

Not that it probably makes much difference but, server will be rack mounted in a 4U case.

Oh, and any input on low noise output CPU coolers will be we'll received.

That will NOT work very well.

A 2.5" HDD pwned it.

Btw, this is the AM2 CPU and NOT the 939 right?

Thanks for the concern but I'm not looking for performace, I'm looking for quiet and cheap. Given that I have spare SDHC cards a setup cost of £10 makes this the idea option for me.

Yes AM2 not 939, please correct me if I'm wrong but I see no bonus for a 939 setup over AM2 for my requirments.

^No. It's just that 939 is dead, and I was going to recommend you upgrade to AM2 if you did have a 939.

As for motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813128376
$65 after MIR
Comes with RAID,etc. But only got one Ethernet.
