Hey i just bought an i5 processor and an asus board to go with it (p7p55d le) and they both say they're designed for dual channel memormy. Will a triple channel memory set still work with them?

At worst it will run in single channel mode. If supported, 2 modules will run in dual channel and one in single channel.
