Will a dual core work in place of my P4 processor? I have a Sony PCV RX670 which is very slow. I want to upgrade and was wondering what processors will work with my motherboard?

Probably not. You have to check the Sony support page to see if your motherboard has a BIOS update available that will let it accept a more powerful CPU.

I am not so sure that your socket is 775. I think is 478. Anyway, I don't think your motherboard supports dual-core CPUs.

I gurantee that it is a S478 since a friend of mine had that model. It wont support any newer CPUs. Your best bet is to get a new machine.

Agreed...that's not the right socket. You'd be better upgrading the system instead.
