i'm building a gaming rig and i also have a satellite receiver with hdmi output, since i'll be either gaming (or occasionally office) OR watching tv with my STB at a time, i was wondering shoud i go for a 27-32" monitor (given is it possible to houk up my stb hdmi output to the monitor's) or hdtv?

a monitor will have a higher resolution that a TV, but a tv will have a much larger screen size and is limited to 1920x1080. a tv may make your setup a bit less complicated, provided you're going to keep your pc in your living room.
