Need help! SSD not showing in BIOS

I have an Intel 80GB X25-M G2 with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. It does not show up in the BIOS unless I plug in my external WD 320GB usb drive. If I plug in the external usb dive it boots up fine. Chipset is AMD 790GX and set to AHCI, the ECS A790GXM-AD3 mobo to be exact. Please help. Thanks!

More about need help showing bios
  1. Disable AHCI, let it be IDE and try again. It has helped people in the past.
  2. I cleared CMOS and now it works, no need for the USB drive to be connected. But if I switch from IDE to AHCI the BIOS menus become slow. You can see the screen refresh from top to bottom when you navigate thru the BIOS menus.
  3. There you go.
