My windows XP wont save my access point settings

Hello,
i have a windows XP laptop and tried connecting wirelessly to my modem/router . Eachtime i have to change the SSID before it connects and im ok but when power goes off and come back on, my laptop can't see the modem/acess point. expect i change d SSID again. pls help out

Have you tried resetting reinstall the router ?

Yes i have done that and the issue seems to persist, i had tried changing authentication mode btw WPA, WEP and no resolution i think it has got something to do with win XP OS, cos it works fine on vista on win7
