Hi guys,

I just recently replaced my PSU (replaced a Cooler Master eXtreme 650W with a OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ600MXSP 600W)

I had to take off my CPU fan/heatsink and reapply thermal gel. Now that I've done it, I noticed my CPU temps are averaging at 45 degrees instead of 30 like they were before. Does anyone have a possible explanation? I put as thin a layer as possible and spread it evenly with it credit card. My CPU is a core 2 extreme QX9650.

My CPU fan is a ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm, i used arctic 5 silver compound

You might have just missed something. Take it off, try again. To little or to much TIM in one area will effect the temps.

Ok, I redid it, this time following Arctic Silver's instructions (one line of compound and letting the heatsink spread it out).

My cores are now a frosty 28 :)

28c? That must be one cold room.

Not really. 28c = 82.4F. I'd be willing to beat your rooms are the same temp or lower. He probably just has the AC on.

It could be worse. You could be living in the Northwest.
