DVD recorder

Hi Folks,
Can someone please direct me to directions as to how to hookup a DVD
recorder to satellite dish service.
I purchased a Sony unit and the TV is Sony also. I understand how to connect
the video, recorder to TV, using the component connections (three outlets).
From what I read, I am to connect the audio with the two wire connection.
What I need to know is... do I bring the dish connection that is now
connected to the TV, to the recorder then a connection from the recorder to
the point where the dish connection is presently?
I've read and reread the instructions with the recorder but it makes
absolutely no sense.
I will appreciate any help you may offer.
