Hey guys, currently I'm running an Intel Q6600 OC'd to 3.0GHz and 2x8800GT's in SLI and it's time to upgrade. Basically right now I'm looking at either a single GTX 275 or 285 but my Q6600 is getting kind of old and though I'm planning on upgrading to an i7 eventually I'm wondering if a new graphics card will be fast enough that it gets bottle-necked by the CPU. And I'm referring mainly to games released in 2007-onward (i.e. Crysis, Far Cry 2, FEAR 2, etc...). I THINK the Q6600 is fast enough for these games but I'm looking for 2nd opinion(s).

Your CPU is Fine, if you need more speed overclock (if you haven't already). If you are mainly playing games and don't do heavy encoding and run professionally programs.

Your next upgrade should be to a gtx 275, in my opinion unless you have cash to burn gtx 285 is not worth it anymore. Especially since gtx 300 series should be out fairly soon.

Yeah, I also would recommend that u keep the processor and upgrade ur Graphics card, Quad cores are the best for gaming another i7 so it is a pretty good setup to go with gtx 275. u could also go for DDR3 Ram if u wanted but that might be over the top.
