hmm any particular reasoning on the mobo change? And ya I would like to overclock. thanks for HD advice. everything else is good to go though?

(not that im buying this system immediatly, but would dual gtx 285 be pointless as we are coming up to the 300 series or is it a good investment?

Thank you.

Depends your patience, your budget, what you want etc.... what you hope to get out of it.... as far as why asus, check the posts on toms, asus p6T top choice, ive build a bunch of em, zero problems, gorgeous board, great recommendations. A 285 will play anything, two is overkill depending, but always option later to add a 2nd card, so make sure your psu will support it if you decide add a 2nd one later, top card is a gtx 295, but another choice, you can SLI 2xgtx 260 core 216's meet or beat it, 340 bucks, so you gotta ask yourself a few questions and decide, ill help more depending your answers

Well My first gaming rig (bought) lasted me a good 5 years and I wanted this one to do the same, only perform even better. I wanted to sli the gtx 285 hearing that that is even better still than a gtx 295. Im guessing the 260s will perfom similarly to the 295? better? in any case I might get one gtx 285 see what happens then depending on that wait for newer cards or get one more. what do you think?

oh! and I want to be playing on a 1920x1200 monitor, not sure how much this effects the cards im talking about, and as cliche' as it is I would like to know which of these would run crysis on max on this kind of resolution. Im positive the 2 gtx 285's will, aswell as the gtx 295 but im looking for longevity of both cards in relation to fure games without having to upgrade.

Thanks!

ok that gives us better idea, heres the thing, price on 285 if its 350 sure then do it, the gtx 295 is 500 or more so thats a waste, if 300's are coming out, will be that much at least too so screw that...one 285 great for whatever and can add one later too, no problem, so sli either, but like i said, 2x260 core 216 340 bucks lol beat a 295, and cost same as a single 285... what would i do personally... I like new stuff, so probably the 1x285 and add 2nd later.... lol

But.... 2x260 core 216 will beat a 285 in most things too, into the ground

Haha well this is a predicament now! Well I'll see how the 260s run things and if they are that great ill probably go with that option, however that leaves out the possibilty of upgrading to something much better withour getting a new card. darn this suck! hehe. well chances are Ill go with the 285 for now then upgrade later to 2 or even 3 if they get cheap :D.

So this is how its looking would this be ready to buy and build?

Case: Antec 1200 ATX full tower
HD: western digital caviar 640g
Card: BFG gtx 285
Drive: Lite-On black DVD-ROM
Power: Kingwin Mach 1 1000w
Arctic silver 5 thermal compound
Memory: OCZ gold 6gb DDR3 1600
MObo:ASUS p6T
CPU: intel i7 920
Thermaltake 120mm led case fan
Heatsink: cooler master v8
OS: vista home premium

But are those 260's or is the 285 overclocked?

With one 285 you sit right along as if you bought two 260's...buuut if you want more performance you would have to add a third card...what about heat with 3 cards in sli?

Why not buy a 285 and if you end up needing more performance instead of switching to a new dx11 gpu or 300 gpu whatever comes out new you could have another 285...that rapes the 260's and you have one less gpu...now the 260s are raped and hot with no way to increase performance...yet you can still and really i would stop at one card myself but you can add another 285.....

Hmmm don't quite a few of those benchmarks show the cpu limiting the cards though?

hmmm....wtf is the 285 for than?

What about an overclocked 285 that should be quite stronger than a 260...should overclock more than a 260 as well?
