I'm currently piecing together a new computer that I plan to use almost exclusively for HD video editing and animation (mostly 2D or "2.5D" in After Effects). The software I'll be using is basically the Adobe CS4 Production Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, and Flash). I've done some research and it seems like the Quadro line of video cards bests suits me. I'm debating between the FX 580, the FX1700 or the FX1800 (open to suggestions/recommendations).
However, aside from video editing and animation, I also work with Max/MSP/Jitter for real-time interactive video performance. Jitter, the video component of this software bundle, handles real-time manipulation of hi-res video and the creation and interaction of 3D objects and environments (among many other things). To my understanding Jitter does this through OpenGL (for more on Max/MSP/Jitter check out www.cycling74.com).
I want to be able to take full advantage of Jitter's live video capabilities in my performance, and I want to feel confident that my chosen video card will allow me to do so.
I suppose my question is: Does anyone know how the Quadro cards handle real-time video manipulation and 3D graphics through interactive software like Max/MSP/Jitter?
...also, any opinions on the Quadro cards I'm debating over would be great.
