He's planning to Tri-SLI or Quad-SLI in 2 months time. His intended use is Video Converting, 3D Rendering and Cinematography (Video Effects). I've Read that GTX 295 QUAD-SLI slows down the system. Is this true? So is GTX 285 the best choice?
3x GTX 285's in SLI is your best bet and is the fastest gpu set up on the planet. It's really hard to use the maximum potential of multiple GPU's, some performance is just wasted because applications are either not equip to handle such, or something like it's just too much work for the system.
That said, it's obvious multiple GPU's WILL increase performance, just not as much as it should, or could.
The GTX 285 is the best single gpu card on the market. If you use 3 of them, you've got the best set up you can ask for. (But this is huge freakin' overkill!)
BTW, hopefully you're overclocking the core i7, and getting a better storage system. Other than that, nice set up.
