Hey guys, I don't have all of my specs on hand, I know it would help tremendously. But, I have been getting this strange issue... random restarts. I think it has to do with the PSU (Antec 650 I believe). It has happened when I have been on a website. But it for sure will happen when I play a game (I have updated drivers for the video card). I've had this PSU for over a year, and like I said, it jsut recently started happening more and more frequently.
When the system restarts it runs fine, as if there was just a faulty wire. I won't get any video though, I'll have to physically restart it myself. I know it's not a overheating problem because it automatically restarts, and does't just shut down.
That's the best way I can think to describe it, I've seen other threads on here with similar problems and it has been the PSU on those guys. I guess I could state my case and see what you all say.
It kinda sounds like your having an over heating issue and that its a XP or Vista setting to make it restart... The one about if there is a power cut? Guess you know what I mean, check that and see if it set to restart, also if you can grab a program like Riva Tuner you can keep an eye on GPU usage and temps, always handy when diagnosing a problem like that. I cant see why it would do it on a website though, unless its very graphically demanding... What game is it too? Crysis running on a 64 graphics card? Lol, sounds dumb but you see where I'm leading.
If you could post the system details would be a great help coz it may be a known problem with that particular PSU, maybe a circuit error causing a restart? Anyways, post the details and I'm sure someone will know the error xD
Check to see if any components are over heating. You can use the utility your GPU came with and Core Temp for the CPU. Also, run MEMtest to check your memory as random restarts can be a memory issue as well. If it isn't your temps or the RAM, I would check the PSU next.
