I was just wondering if there was a way to control the speed of the fans you have in your computer case? I have a total of 6 fans in my case, not including the GPU fan. But I can not control the speed on any of them. I have tried downloading Speedfan, but changing the percentages in there does nothing to my actual fans.
Total I have 6 fans, 2 are stock and 4 I added as aftermarket fans. Here are the aftermarket fans I am using.
I have them all plugged in though my PSU cables, but I have tried doing a bit of searching around and it seems that as long as there getting power though your PSU then you cant controll them?? If that is the case where do I plug them in at? Are there places on my Mobo that are made for 4 pin conector fans?
Any help would be awesome!
Thanks,
Typeo

I have used fan controllers in the past for such a purpose. They install into a drive bay, 5.25" mostly, and have variable resistors on them to control the fan speeds. You can connect all to one knob or set each fan to a single knob, or cluster them. Usually you plug the controller into a 4 pin molex and then plug fans into them. Sometimes you have to cut the fan wires so you just have the 2 leads that screw into the controller. Either way its a good solution if you really need to control them.
I have found in the past that there IS such a thing as too many fans. My current case has 3 fans, not including the cpu or gpu fan. A top 230mm, rear 140mm, and front 120mm. It does a phenomenal job.
Look in your mobo's manual on page 2-2 for the layout diagram. It shows a CPU Fan connector right at the end of one of the RAM slots, plus tow case fan and ond PSU fan connectors labeled #5 at other locations. These connectors are NOT like the 4-pin Molex power connectors coming out of the PSU. If that is what your fans need, you may need some kind of adapter to plug into the mobo connectors. Or maybe your fans were built for the mobo connectors and you already are using a different adapter type to allow them to connect to 4-pin Molex.
cool thanks for the info. Ill check that out tonight. I did not see any adapters already on the cables coming from the fans, but something might of came with my Mobo that I didn't notice. Ill just have to look at it when I get back home.
Thanks again for the info. Typeo
