Now - my question is, do I simply just replace the old ram to make 4 gigs? Or do I just put the new ram in the yellow slots (where old ram was) - and put the old ram in the black slots to create a total of 6 gigs?

You can use your old RAM, BUT the voltage coulde be a problem, your current RAM is to 2.2V, and the other is to 1.8V.....With more low voltage is better, so put your new RAM in the yellow and the old in the black, BUT in the BIOS configure the V RAM to auto.
