Faulty mouse

My Logitech M-BJ58 wheel-mouse keeps sticking (cursor won't move). Sometimes if I shake it back and forth it works again, sometime if I left-click very hard it works, or if I just bang it on the mouse pad it may work. Is it possible to just wear one of these things out? It's about 4 or 5 years old. Or am I just disproving the theory that there's no such thing as a stupid question? I'm at nstuart29@yahoo.com. Mice are cheap try another one,should have a backup anyhow..

Clean your mouse. I use a screen cleaner cloth.
