Setting up a home network

First of all, I am a complete novice when it comes to setting up networks. At home I have a personal computer and I also have a company laptop. I am able to share an internet connection but can not share files. The Network setup wizard displays "The wizard detected that this computer belongs to a domain. Therefore, you cannot use this wizard to set up a network."
If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.
