im at another stand still picking out which GPU i should get, i was reading some reviews and such and saw alot of suggestions that a gtx 260 in sli can be better than a gtx 285, as the 260 has access to the eVGA voltage tuner, also, i heard a vanilla gtx 285 can be just as overclocked to a factory OC'd gtx 285, anyone done this? is there much a difference?

I would go with the 2 gtx 260's. I have 2 of them and they overclock very well. Even without the voltage tuning, I have been able to get them stable at 730/1574 and 2500 for mem clock. I've never tried the 285 though....

+1 for GTX 260 SLI, better performance since u get 2 x 16 lanes for the sli'd 260s and only 16 for a gtx 285. Sli 260s are proven to be faster...cant remember the site where the cards where compared but u can google it ^^

The SLI 260's would be faster, but it has nothing to do with PCIx bandwidth. There really is no contest. If you can deal with any issues SLI might bring over a single GPU the SLI will be faster in every single situation where SLI functions.

The figures that are quoted are for the Core Clock, the Shader Clock and the Memory Clock. You will need to clock both cards the same. Depending on the cards you may well get an overclocking facility with them, failing that RivaTuna seems to be the way to go.
