I just installed this new HD 4850 card with driver / catalyst but my taskbar shows HD 3850 and also device manager is HD 3850. I already installed the driver twice..

Download gpu-z and see if it sill reports as 3850.

Did you install the drive from the disc or did you download from the ATi webpage?

Well if you still have the problems after downloading and installing the latest driver package and GPU-Z reports a 3850, just return the card.

The HD 3850 is the onboard graphics for your motherboard most likely, Disable onboard graphics in your bios and then check ccc. Ensure you have the newest drivers for the 4850, some were released a few days ago!
