Hello,
I have older stereo speakers I want to connect to my NEW HP Touch Smart computer. The speakers have the claps that take the bare copper wires. The computer has a single audio out jack, a subwoofer jack, a mic jack and a headphone jack. How do I connect these these old style speakers to my new computer?

The audio out jack is a stereo jack, 3 conductors. a left wire, a right wire and a common ground wire. the ground is common to both channels and is usually connected to the barrel of the stereo jack. attach the other wire from 1 speaker to the ring, and the other speaker wire to the tip of the jack. As far as the power goes, farrengottu is correct.

That would work, except that most of those cables only have 3 wires. You need two to each speaker.
