Dell dimension 2400 invalid configuration press f1 or f2 to run setup program

I've installed a working motherboard inside a dell dimension 2400. The problem I am experiencing is that when the system unit is powered on I receive an error message that says: Invalid Configuration Press F1 or F2 to run setup program. Time and Date not set. The system recognizes the hdd, cdrom, floppy, memory, keyboard, mouse and CPU. I have disconnected all devices except for the hdd and still receive the same error message. The IDE interfaces on the motherboard works since they all recognize the system devices. Please Assist! Thanks in Advance.

Do you get the date/time not set every time ? Bad cmos battery.

Could also need a bios upgrade
