Hi guys,
I am planning in making my first overclock with my i7 920.My memory is an ocz goldedition 1333mhz but its 1.7v so i am using it in 1067mhz, and as I know this would be not good for my overclock.
So I am buying myself a new decent memory.I was thinking about a dominator or a gskill.
I only looked the Corsair dominator prices, and would like you guys opinion.
Those are the ones that I am in doubt:

What would be the best benefit in terms of speed x latency?
Would I have any significant gain in having 6x2 instead of 3x2 1600mhz ?
I Heard that if you are trying to overclock to 4.9ghz your memory clock should be at least 2000mhz , is that true?

Thank you and I am sorry for all those questions!!

Here's a good article. The conclusions recommend not wasting effort and money on 1600 and get good, low latency 1333 RAM. I wouldn't consider any new RAM that needed more than 1.6V for an i7. You'll likely want to boost that a little for 6 sticks.

Significant gain in having 12GBs vs 6GBs? For what? Won't show gains in your wallet.

I recommend these:

I can't make much sense of the clock vs this or that - but most reference the FSB, not memory speed.

If you want a RAM cooler, chk these out. Seems like that corsair one adds $60 to the price - only $30 by itself.

OCZ 3x2GB DDR3 1600 CL7 - NonHyper mainstream kit hits DDR3 2400 Monstru Jul 10th, 09, 12:43 PM Report | #1 (permalink)
There are tons of mainstream DDR3 kits out-there, all with comparable price and performance. Usually based on Elipda NonHyper IC's or Samsung HCF0, these kits are the ones a normal user will most likely buy, due to the friendly price and the very well balanced price/performance ratio. OCZ3P1600LV6GK is one of these kits, with a rated speed of DDR3 1600, 3x2GB, 7-7-7-24 with 1.65v. Well, what happens when manufacturers go wild and throw in really nice binned IC's? A mainstream, friendly priced kit reaches DDR3 2400, with 9-9-9-24, Command Rate 1T and 1.90v vDDR. And there is more....
