P55: Is DDR3-1600 OC?

I'm about to purchase a P55 system (i7-860) that I do not intend to overclock. Motherboard specs from Asus and others show memory above DDR3-1600 as "O.C." but 1600 isn't listed this way. Isn't the nominal bus 1333? Why isn't 1600 listed as OC?

Thanks,
Chris

More about ddr3 1600
  1. Because you don't need to overclock the memory controller.
  2. I don't understand. Would there be a need for 1600 on a non-OC system?
  3. DDR3-1333 is fine. You should read this article: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/memory-scaling-i7,2325.html
