I've been reading and searching and searching and reading - Here's what I've come up with.
Thanks to all who post and reply in these forums!

I'm pretty much in the sweet spot that I want to be in price wise. Not interested in OS/Monitor/KeybMouse/etc. However, things like having the wrong cable or not having a cable or other incompatible collection of parts...I'd love to know that...and better deals too. $20 bucks might make me split the order across suppliers, I'd keep it all newegg for any less than that.

I'm looking to purchase this weekend.

hey that looks nice, i just build a system just about the same, the only difference is i used the evga x58 mobo, the antec 900 and cooler master v8 for cpu cooling. the build looks sound but why do u want an esata with the hd?

Looks good. Be aware though that rebates are not a sure thing, they come like half of the time and it usually takes 10 weeks or so for them to come, long after you forgot they were coming.

Thanks for the validation. I guess I got combo crazy and wanted a free something - do I even need a cable or does the correct one come with the selected components?

I don't think your CPU cooler will fit in that case. The Xigmatek S1283 is big, and you picked a narrow case. The other one would have been a better choice for a gaming rig.

Hi, my little bro and I are looking into building our own gaming rig.

We have budget of $1000.00. I am planning on going easy on RAM (2gb) since I will be using Vista 32 bit. But, I don't know what a good processor (intel preferably), mobo, and GPU (nVidia preferably) combination would be.

I would like to be able to play games like Call of Duty Modern Warfare, BF2142, Halo Series, Half Life Series, Fallout 3, etc.

Any thoughts on a good gaming build? I'm also planning on using a Modtech case.
