Virus on Hard drive

I am not sure if this is the right board for my question but i will ask anyways.

Is there a way to check if a hard drive has a virus on it before I connect it to my computer since I don't want to wreck it.

As long as that drive isn't a boot drive, it won't matter if it has a virus. It will have no way to run unless you tell it to. Just install it as a secondary drive and run a full virus scan on it.
