Is the Pentium E6300 an upgrade to the Core 2 Duo E4300? I couldnt play HD on my E4300 and was thinking of getting an Pentium E6300 because of its clock speed and low cost. But im not sure if this is really an upgrade. Thanks for all the feedback!
Heres my other parts:
ECS Mobo 945-GCT M/1333
XFX Nvidia 8800GT
3GB Corsair Ram
Vista Home Premium 32Bit
First I'd try the E6300 which is much faster that the E4300 and get a new motherboard to overclock it only if need be. You also have other options like an E7500, etc.
While the new 2.8 GHz E6300 is inexpensive, it is not yet on the support list for your motherboard (though it might still work). You couldn't play HD for what reason? CPU not powerful enough?

Yup, my cpu is only 1.8 GHz and the 8800GT is not very good with HD playback, but is awesome with gaming. I am also thinking about changing my mobo to a gigabyte g31 and try to overclock my existing e4300 (though im a newbie with overclocking). What do you think?
