How much faster, or is it worth changing to DDR3-1066 or even DDR2 1066 from DDR2 800?

Currently operateing:
AMD 955
4G DDR2 800
ATI 4850
ASUS 3A78 MB

No the difference isn't noticeable in games and almost every apps,capacity of the RAM makes the most difference in performance,timings and Mhz make minor difference and they are mainly important for OverClocking

Not really. Memory prices have been rising. It's better to wait and change memory when you change the motherboard and cpu at your next upgrade.
