Overclocking i7 920 & GA-EX58-UD3R

Hi guys i am trying to overclock my i7 920,i overclock it but when i try to boot up my computer shuts down,i am just wondering if it is my ram that the settings are wrong,and could you guys please tell me what voltage,s and settings should be at for overclocking,thanks all,hope you guys can help me,sorry im new to overclocking

I think your OC settings are too high. If it keeps shutting down, read up some reviews first of your cpu before you OC it. That is if you have another pc of course.

It is, in my opinion, the best one out there. Way simpler, and the explanations are better, than the one on Tom's Hardware.
I've got a i7-920 overclocked to 4.2GHz, idle temps 38-45°C, load temps with Intel Burn Test at Maximum : 78-86°C.
But be careful with your overclock...if you haven't got an after-market cooler, keep a very close eye on your temps !
