are you trying to upgrade from a 32 bit OS, if so you have to totally re-format. You cannot upgrade to a 64 bit from a 32.

display settings? 64bit refers to the OS, not the display settings. If you think that it means 64-bit color, then you are terribly mistaken.

Display settings do not have a 64-bit option. This is completely seperate from the OS, and has nothing to do with having a 32 or 64 bit OS.

Here's what I understood: You installed Vista x64, opened the control panel, double-clicked display and then clicked settings and tried to change the color quality to 64 bit. Otherwise I have no idea what "display settings" you are referring to.
