On 4allmemory.com I found that the nVidia GeForce 6200 AGP 512MB Video card should work for my system. On walmart.com I found this one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/pro [...] d=10929755

Would the GeForce 6200 256MB be a good upgrade from a VIA/S3G UniChrome IPG? Also, the UniChrome is not removable, will that be a problem?

Computer: Compaq Presario SR1230NX
CPU: AMD Athlon 3200+ (2.2GHz)
I think this is my chipset if there's any more info needed: http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/ [...] ies/km400/

the only worthy upgrade on an agp system atm is a 3850 agp card...otherwise u can wait for a few days and grab a 4750 agp version about to be released

i wouldn't even bother, save the money to get a new computer and the people here (including myself) can help you with the computer build

though, if you must get an AGP card, the 3850 is the best bet now and the 4750 would be better but still not worth it

Dang, I only have 250W system power supply.. just found out I cant even use the GeForce 6200, it needs at least 300W.

I've been wanting to build a computer for a while. Help would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Is it safe to replace an ATX 250W power supply for a ATX 450W? And, What kind of things do I need to look for when looking for a new one? Sorry, off topic.

Yes, as long as it is ATX. You might want to consider getting a nice quality unit like one from Corsair, Antec, SeaSonic, PC power and cooling.

people are right.

6200 is only 6+2+0+0 = 8 whereas 3850 is 3+8+5+0 16

16>6
But u dont have to pay just for the power index. You dont need it simply.

I decided I'm going to buy an EVGA nVidia GeForce 6200 512MB. Minimum of a 250W power supply, perfect.

Thanks.

How do you rate it compared to Sapphire ATI RADEON HD 3850 512MB GDDR3 8x AGP Dual Dual-Link DVI Display Graphics Card ?

You have got to be kidding me. They are actually going to make a new AGP card? I really don't understand why they continue to do so. The 3850 was already pushing it and it was overkill for most systems that still use the AGP slot. On top of it these cards tend to be horribly overpriced compared to their PCI-E counterparts.

I don't see why not. There are still some very viable systems out there with AGP graphic slots (x2-4800, FX-57, FX-60). I just broke down an x2-4800 system that was running an 8800GTS-640 without a hiccup. Per Tom's Hardware - Best graphics for the Money, the HD3850 sits just below the 8800GTS-640.

Well, i had a pixelview 6200 256 mb once, it served me well, but if u want to play newer games (2007 above), it's completely worthless. i say you save your monet to upgrade, with that kind of money, you can buy a more powerful pcie vga

pcie vga = upgrading Mobo, memy, cpu.. well a new computer

If ppl stil buy agp vid it's because it's still the cheapest solution for them after all...
