CPU/GPU Bottleneck?

Hi

Basically I'm going to be upgrading my GPU soon to a GTX 260 (216) and was wondering if it would be bottlenecked in any way by my CPU: Pentium Dual-Core E2180, 2GHz stock speed, I'm running it OC'd at 3GHz. Would the 260 run at it's full potential on my system?

Thanks for your help.

What games do you like to play? What resolution do you use? How aggressive are your in-game graphics settings?
Off the top of my head yeah, your CPU seems a little weak, but if you're going to play GPU heavy games with extremely high settings, I don't see much problem.

The resolution I use when gaming is 1680 x 1050, I generally like to run games at as high a graphical quality as possible, and there's no specific games I play to be honest, just anything modern on the PC, e.g. Crysis, CoD4, Far Cry 2, Empire: Total War etc.

Mmmm...you should be ok then, especially if you run AA/AF. You might lose a few frames due to your CPU in a couple titles, but it won't be anything drastic. Your gtx 260 will be working hard with the settings maxed.

I run sli 8800 GTs (performance similar to a 260) on a C2D @ 3.4 ghz on a 1600x1200 monitor. Your system sounds similar to mine and I haven't found a game that maxed my CPU. A few have come close (Mass Effect, Crysis) but nothing's passed 90% utilization of both cores so far.
