Hi, I am new to the computers for the most part, I recently built my first rig and am having difficulty with the sound. I have an i5 2.66 GHz cpu with a P7P55D LE ASUS motherboard. I am running windows 7 64x and everything else is working fine aside from the sound. I tried installing the latest drivers off of the website, but when I do so it says no HD audio device found and windows says that there are no sound devices installed. Is there something else that I am missing or should do to correct the issue? thanks in advance
Did you look in the bios settings to be sure the onboard sound is enabled. If so is it set for HD audio or AC97, I don't have your board so just asking. If thats ok look in device manager under audio to see if anything is listed and if so does it have an asterik over it or what. If it is visible try selecting it and then update driver search including web search. I have read some people having trouble locating drivers for 64bit even from their own vendor but that should be remedied soon, certainly by the 22nd this month right.
dont use 64bit at least the Asus of your motherboard provides a link to download a 64bit version of sound card so instead using 64bit use 32bit and your problem is solve ..i have the same problem but i didn't realize my sound card dont have 64bit version so i use 32bit and no problem..
and i assume its your first time using 64bit right? cause you won't having a problem at the first place using 64bit even on Vista..Windows 7 has 86bit and 64bit .. use the 86bit dont worry they are the same of 32bit
Thank you ronj, it just so happens that it was disabled in my bios. So I enabled and it working just fine now. As far as 64bit goes I haven't any problems with it so far. And again thanks for your help
