I'm running a repair on my win xp computer from the console but it says
"The volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems"
what can i do to make my computer work again

Have you tried chkdsk /r from command prompt ?

Checked HD Manufacturer's site for diagnostic software ?

Searched for 3rd party software, as an alternative to Chkdsk ?
