Not really.

Get a HD 4670 or 9600GT if they are within your budget.

The price difference between 9600gt and 9500 is not that big, however the power difference is quite something that can be considered while making your choice.

The power index of 9500gt is 9+5+0+0 = 14
And the power index of 9600gt is 9+6+0+0=15

We have 14 vs 15 here. However, due do some circumstances, 9600gt is better than 9500gt. But dont buy the ddr2 version. Ddr3 gives another +1 to the power index tho.
Both of these cards dont have X "turbos" in their names, so dont expect something great.

Best regards

Christopher

What the hell is "power index"?

Edit:

Reading the above post again leads me to the conclusion : Gibberish.

The 9600GT and HD 4670 are both mainstream cards that can handle most current games at medium (sometimes high) graphics quality and 1680 x 1050 resolution. There are exceptions like Crysis and GTA IV which are simply hogs and poorly implemented graphics engines.

The 9500GT is mainly used for HTPC and very light gaming. You'll probably get good performance for older games from 2006.

I agree with everything jaguarskx, and don't agree with Christopher11. Far as the two, there is one advantage that the HD4670 has over the 9600GT: you don't need a power connector for it. Either way, there are great cards for the money.

@ Firetrap900: Both Overclockers and E-buyer have 9600 GSO like this:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/show [...] subcat=356

This looks like the best for under 50 pounds and both are markedly superior to the 9500.
You will have to go to 55 or 60 pounds for a HD4670 depending on where you look.
Do not worry about the 512 Mb memory, no card in this performance bracket is fast enough to use 1Gb of memory-It is just a marketing ploy, do not fall for it!
