OK I recently signed up for high speed internet connection. Currently im using an old Linksys router and I think its slowing down my connection ALOT. With the router in place (Hardwired) I am getting about 6 megabits down..... without the router I get about 22megabits down. Unfortunately I cannot go without a router because multiple PCs within the home must have an internet connection......... so what should I do?

Do you have the router's model number?

My guess is that your current router only has a 10Mbps uplink (connected to the modem) port. I think it was fairly common a while back since very few ISP provided connections of over 10Mbps. If you don't need wireless, this router should fix the problem.
