IDE to SATA

Hi......

Recently i'v bought a new system with GIGABYTE X58A-UD3R Mobo......i7 processor.......I have 2 HDD's :one 2 TB and other 500 GB both Seagate HDD's.....now the problem is that though both of them being sata HDD's........ by default the HDD's are set in the IDE mode....because of which i think I'm taking a performance lag......Can't I change them to SATA mode without RAID configuration....? if not possible can any one provide me links of any tutorials of how to configure my HDD's to either RAID 0/1 modes........????

Thanks in Advance.....
