Ok so I built a new PC and everything seemed perfect until I found myself with a wireless internet problem I never knew existed.. I have a Linksys WRT54G router updated to newest firmware and a Linksys PCI WMP54G now I do not believe either is certified with Vista 64 however at first I was connecting to the internet fine then all of a sudden the problems started... DNS errors/Network adapter needing to be reset/Needing to power cycle cable modem and router/Random Vista network diagnostic suggestions and errors I have never seen before even one that disabled TCP v6 for me... Regardless of what I do the internet connection is intermittent at best... Basically if you know what its like sometimes when you click on a link and you can just tell it's not going to load but if you hit go again or refresh wala instant success... well this problem is like that x 50.
So I guess if theres any network experts that are up to date on this stuff do you have a solution for me? Do I need a new PCI card for my desktop thats 64 Vista certified or do I just need a Router that is Vista compatible? I have been reading different things and I want to think since the PCI card is actually installed and working I may just need a new router?
I may just go to Home Depot and get a roll of CAT5 but I will have to run it across the entire house which I really don't feel like doing
meh, just run the cable, it'll be worth it, though it you have multiple computers with gigabit ports, i would suggest getting cat5e for the possibility of gigabit later ie getting a new router
