2.4Ghz 6 Core, 12HT Gulftown

Vs.

2.66Ghz 4 Core, 8HT Bloomfield

How much faster will it be in the benchmarks? 10%? 20%? Whats the best guess?

^ 2.4GHz is the first ES, so expect at least another 533MHz on that so make it 2.93GHz.

Remember the i5 ES? 2.13GHz with HT, when it comes out, it'll be 2.93GHz.

but anyway, I'd guess that gulftown will have a 0.25 higher IPC so clock for clock, gulftown @ 2.93GHz will be close to the i7 950 in performance in single threaded tasks. and then beat anything out there in tasks which can use 9 or more threads.

LUDICROUS SPEED!!

------------------------------ Which Chip? Well, it depends on which set of thieving b@stardz you choose to support: The ones who use insider trading to enrich themselves while running their company into the ground? Or the ones who illegally pay vendors to not support the first group?

Col. Sandurz: Light speed, too slow?!

Dark Helmet: Yes, we're gonna have to go right to . . . ludicrous speed!

Col. Sandurz: Ludicrous speed?! Sir, we've never gone that fast before. I don't know if the ship can take it.

Dark Helmet: What's the matter Colonel Sandurz? Chicken?

THEY'VE GONE PLAID!!!!

back on topic - hard to make any type of judgement on them without seeing what they are doing to it. I am holding off on gulftown for them hopefully they will have a noticeable performance increase. However I will be buying whichever chip makes sense for the money i will be spending.. ( currently e7200 @ 4.03Ghz on air )
