I have DDR2 553 MHz 2GB (1 GB in two slots) I've been told to get extra memory I would need 2 x 2 GB 667MHz but as i've Windows XP I would only receive 3GB - is this information correct.

Yes somewhere between 3 and 4 gigabytes 3.25 to 3.5 is typical, your bios and components will make the determination.

The maximum amount of memory that can be supported on Windows XP Professional is also 4 GB. However, windows xp 32 bit will actually see 3.25gb. that is the limitation of 32 bit OS.

Hope this will help you.

Thank you very much for your reply. Is it ok then to purchase 2 x 2 GB 667MHz as I don't want to waste money. I have Windows XP Home edition and Win Fast Motherboard 6100M2MA - RS2H. Thanking you in advance. Anymore info would be much appreciated.
