Greetings,

I've got a Gigabyte MA790FX-UD5P motherboard and 4 DIMMs of DDR2 1066MHz. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be able to support 1066MHz so it runs the 4 DIMMs at 800MHz. Apparently many people still encounter issues with running 2 DIMMs at 1066MHz as well.

Has anyone successfully run 4 DIMMs of 1066MHz RAM natively on a 790FX board or is it just that my board has an issue? If you're running 2 DIMMs please share you're experiences as I'm tearing my hair out.

Solution
That is good RAM

1066 divided by CPU Host Frequency = Memory Clock.

You will have to change Set Memory Clock to Manual
" DDR voltage Control to Manual.. you will want +.2 or +.3v
Default is 1.8v........1.8v+.3v=2.1v This is what you will need to run at 1066Mhz

I got to go...late for appointment.

Good Luck!

Enter Bios on start-up.
Load Optimized Defaults. Change that N to a Y

Now get out of there and re-boot
If it dosent recgonize your ram as 1066 you will have to make manual settings in bios.

Go back to Bios
Under MIT
What is your "CPU Host Frequency (Mhz)" ?

and what is the voltage spec. printed on your Ram?

My RAM is available at Newegg and the voltage is 2.0V to 2.1V link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166

I believe the CPU Host frequency is on the default/auto setting. Reading many reviews, there are issues getting the RAM to run at 1066MHz. Have you been successful?

Thanks for your help. I've found this

"Note: Due to AMD AM3/AM2+ CPU limitation, memory module DDR2 1066 or above speed is only supported by 1 dimm per channel."on both the GIGABYTE and ASUS 790FX motherboard QVL/Memory support list.

I guess this means it's impossible for an AMD Spider or Dragon platform to utilise 8GB @ 1066MHz.

Anyone else have anything that says otherwise. I'd like to be proven wrong. I dished out for 1066 when I can't even make use of it... for all DIMM slots.
