I see newegg has these cards on sale I am occasional gamer WOW Far cry 2 would like to play Crysis Confused as if its worth it to pay 124 or 76 for gt looking at Bfg cards. I hear memory is not that critical as I am running 19 lcd just dont want to spend alot of money there is a rebate on the 9800gt card that would put it right at 100 dollars any thoughts?
I have Dual core E6300 2gig667ddr 500 watt zion power supply 250 gig wd hardrive msi P65 board and would be upgrading from 7600gt card
thanks

the 9600gt for 67$ ( it has a 10$ mail in rebate looks like a veeeryy good choice.
I think getting a better card wont change anything cuz ur Processor is gonna bottleneck it anyway.

So it goes 67$ vs 100$ with not that much power difference.
9800gt is almost a rebranded 8800gt and 9600gt and 8800gt scored almsot the same, unless theres a high resolution.

So i'd recommend you to with 9600gt. And about that 1024mb thing - Neother of those cards can use that amount of memory, it's ust Marketing.

So i'd recommend you to go with the 9600gt. Neither of those cards can use a gig of ram anyway, it's marketing.

And no, neither of those will play Crysis 19' too. Unless you play at 10x7.
Plus your cpu is going to be a bottleneck for your system.
It runs at 1.86ghz, right?

yeah thats my ghz 1.86 Dual core 2.Im having to upgrade from 7600gt card. I see some people are playing with these cards on crysis I dont have the game but thinking about buying it. I really dont game as much I also have far cry 2 as well. I just would like to play a decent game every once in awhile. So u think the 9800gt card might be too much for my system? The only reason I was considering the 1 gig version was thats it on sale for 124 with 20 reabate. I was considering the 960gt card cuz price but every review says I should get the 9800gt Card thats why im conflicted. It sounds like the 9600t is the way to go based on my situation?

Yeah 9800gt is slightly better overall and better at higher resolutions, but as I have already said it's not that much difference between them to pay almost 36$ more for it.
I am sure your cpu will bottleneck both of these cards though.
I mean if there was like no price difference 10-15$, then i would say 9800gt for sure, but in this particular situation 9600gt is bang for the buck.

The 9800gt will run crysis on 1440x900. If you plan on upgrading your system within a year then I would go ahead with the 9600gt. However if you looking to keep it for awhile then I would go with the 9800gt. I don't think you card will bottleneck the GPU in all games.

Thanks for the info. I just saw the 1 gig version same price as the 512 thats why I was going with that plus Lifetime waranty. Im aware that the 9800 is rebranded I saw the 880ogts and the 4850 cards. I think based on how often I play and the games I play I think the 9600 gt is appealing just based on price. Im sure it will play games decently. But the 9800 gt is appealing just cause of the step up factor and the way technology is changing I figure to being outdated already. But the fact I proabaly wont being upgrading my system any time soon. I figure 9800gt would be a good purchase just for that purpose. Or I am just better off just getting the 9600gt card based on price.

Considering how long you held on to 7600GT, go for the 8800GTS Christopher linked. Since youll be going for rebate anyhow, an $85 final price for that is by far the best deal. Not to mention is a powerful enough card to be renamed not once but TWICE, I'd say its still got a long life ahead of it.

EDIT: Also, even at low clocks, you've got a Core2, bottlenecking will be either very small or non existent.
