Automatically Cancel Copying files

Guys, I have a problem.

Sometimes when I transfer data from my Laptop HDD to my external HDDs or vice-versa, the copying will suddenly canceled although I don't do anything. This problem happened to my both ext HDD so I think the problem lies on my Laptop. This problem has just happened recently and I have not change anything noticable.

Is this a HDD failing symptom? My laptop is still just 1 year-old. I heard that most of HDD can be used for approximately 5 years?
