New Router No IP Address

Forum Wireless Networking : General Discussion New Router No IP Address

I recently change my Internet provider and I connected my old Linksys Wireless Router. The router works fine because when I connect my laptop (running XP) through a wire it works fine. When I try to connect to the Internet using the wireless connection, I don't get an IP address. I tried renewing the IP address typing ipconfig/renew but I still get 0.0.0.0. The Wireless Network Connection keeps showing "Acquiring Network Address" and Status: "Authenticating" Can anyone help? Thanks!

Sounds like you had a wep or wpa password on the wireless side. You should go into it and check your settings.

I know the password to connect to my router... don't think that's the problem. I can connect to the router and signal says "Excellent" but for some reason I cannot generate an IP address. Any ideas? I need help. Thanks!

you said it's always Authenticating, based on that you may not have the correct password

It is either that, or you have a static IP on the wireless card, or it may be possible DHCP isn't on for wireless.

^ This is probably the problem in my eyes too.
