What socket motherboard are you looking at?
In general I advise to stay away from Nvidia chipsets.
ATI has better chipsets right now.
Are you interested in SLI and Intel?

ASUS M3N78-VM AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8200 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard.. this is the board im looking at.. its on new egg and is an open box so i can get it for 49.99 seemed like a killer deal to me.. and ive never had a problem out of a Nvidia chip set.. ive only had one problem out of one mother board and that was the ECS board i bought it failed right after the warranty.... im just looking for a good mobo for a great price (some where around 50$)

I would go with 770, 780G, 790X, 790GX or 790FX chipsets right now.
The first ones are lower priced. As you progress the prices are higher and so are the features.
