I currently have:
MSI K9n Platinum
8800GTS
4GB DDR2 Memory
AMD Athlon X2 AM2 1.9ghz (dual core)

What's the best processor I can get without taking out my motherboard?

i was looking at this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6819103300

Is there anything better I can get? My motherboard does not support Phenom.

also I have a 550w Antec smartpower PSU. Do you think this is enough to put in a HD 4890?

That Kuma is a good upgrade - don't go for the 7850 if you are gonna OC - stick with the 7750 cause its just as good. Don't think that MOBO supports it after I just checked the microstar website:
http://us.msi.com/product/p_spec.a [...] N_Platinum
From that it looks like the best you can go is a 5200+
Lots of current GPU's you can get that will give you better performance. I would check out the 4850/4870 or the GTS 250 if I were you. I can't get newegg to work anymore - server is down - so that's as much as I can do for now
also Xigmatek makes excellent coolers - cheaper than the CM V8
and the ASUS silent knight might be worth a check.

The AMD Athlon 64 X2 7750 is basically a first generation Phenom with 2 cores disabled. so basically if your MB doesn't support Phenom, it won't support that CPU.

I contacted MSI and they confirmed that the best processor I can get with my current motherboard (MSI K9N Platinum) is:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Windsor 3.2GHz

My question is will this CPU bottleneck the 4890? and is this a worthy upgrade? i wont be playing games such as crysis or any quad-core games..
