I moved my PC home and have been fighting with other issues since I got it back (overheating). Now that it's fixed, I noticed on one boot my main LCD monitor had a blue tinge to it, whatever it was the color was definatly wrong. I tried jigglng the connector and it looked like it fixed it. Meanwhile monitor 2 is fine.

Now I boot up and this monitor (after disconnects to try to fix stuff inside) is blue again. The second monitor is connected via S-cable connection to the side of my 8800GT's 2 ports for the VGAs.

I use a DVI-VGA adapter and my monitor plugs into that. I tried unplugging my monitor along with jiggling it, all sorts of tries and nothing still blue.

Is there anything that anyone can think of causing this problem? Is the graphics card possibly loose?

I moved the DVI-VGA adapter to the other port and still the same.

The monitor that is bluish is my LCD screen, the one that is fine is a younger HDTV. The LCD is about 4 years old I think, could it be dying? Or the graphics card loose?(I checked the tightness, seems to be OK)

Well I had a sorta similar problem, first my DVI to VGA adapter was sort of well messed up. And then I found out that my monitor cable (VGA) had some bent pins, you might want to look into that.

^+1, if it's a captive cable it could be a pain to replace but will still be cheaper than a new monitor.

What do you mean by captive cable?

Does the monitor have a D-sub and/or DVI port or is the cable integrated into the unit.

What is the color temperature set to?

Reply to jsc

mousemonkey, no, it's just a standard VGA cable that is integrated into the unit.

The color temp is set to normal/factory settings. I ordered a new DVI-I to VGA adapter from monoprice in hopes that will be the fix.

I don't think that newer LCD's will have built in VGA connectors like old CRT's did.

Hehehe reminds me of high school where some norti kids would cut/break certain pins out of the VGA cables.

Wasnt me, and u cant prove anything :p

Fingers crossed it's the adapter, if not those cables can be a bit of a pain to replace as you will have to get in touch with the manufacturer or their suppliers.

I took a closer look, the cable disconnects from both the monitor and the adapter...so I would just need a male to male VGA wouldn't I?

Any reason that wouldn't work on my connection as it stands now?

That cable should work fine, good luck!
