I just got a new desktop with a 30gb SSD and another 1TB HD. I installed Windows 7 OS on the SSD, but now I can't seem to access the other 1TB of memory. It shows up in device manager, but not in "My Computer".

Also when I go to "Disk Management" and try to initialize the HDD it says "The media is write protected."

I restarted my computer and now when i try to initialize the hard drive I get this message, "Data error (cyclical redundancy check)."

Download the manufacturers diagnostic utilities and run their tests. Likey the drive is defective thou.

I also have this problem, It might be a matter of jiggling some cables, but I don't know. In the UEFI BIOS It shows all the drives I have, It displays the SSD and the HDD and my external drive that I have connected via USB. I don't think that the part is defective telling by this information.
