SSD or HDD

Is a 100 USD 40 GB Intel SSD worth it? Will it be wasted if i just install windows on it and other stuff on a HDD?

  1. it depends on the model of the drive and which controller its using IMO. Its hard to think of SSD's as slow but there are some that are amazing fast so the older generation ones are slow by comparison. Also new or used makes a difference.
$100 for 40gb should buy you a relatively fast and NEW drive. You can research them on newegg.com The only 40GB Intel drive I see is the older x25-v which is going for $70 brand new on the egg and a bit slower (170mbs read/35 write)than the sandforce based Adata S599 (280 read/270 write) or the corsair F40 (280/270 again)... bear in mind that these read write speeds are max speeds not the avg speed.
